In a sustainability first for Goodman Continental Europe, Hamburg South Light Industrial Park has introduced an energy efficient air-to-water heat pump system that uses 100% natural refrigerant 'Propane-R209'.
The innovative HVAC solution handles space heating, hot water supply and cooling, and is extremely efficient in converting energy to heat. Customers using the heat pump instead of gas-fired heating systems can benefit from cost savings due to its higher efficiency in converting energy to heat.
The introduction of this new system builds on Hamburg South Light Industrial Park being Goodman’s first property to be aligned with the EU Taxonomy classification system. The facility has also been recognised with a platinum certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), an independent non-profit association and Europe's largest network for sustainable buildings.
Located in the municipality of Seevetal, Hamburg South Light Industrial Park’s easily accessible location offers excellent connections to the national road infrastructure for last mile delivery via the A7, A1 and A261 motorways, reducing both delivery distances and carbon emissions.

In addition to the fossil free air-to-water heat pump, the facility incorporates other energy-saving features from Goodman’s GreenSpace+ offering including:
- Full rooftop of solar photovoltaic panels supplying 2.5 MWp of PV power
- Charging infrastructure for up to 11 electric vehicles
- Smart metering
- Rainwater harvesting.
Seevetal provides businesses with an opportunity to access 4.4 million consumers within a 60 minute drivetime. The development is a short distance from the port of Hamburg, the largest seaport in Germany and the third largest in Europe, and Europe's largest rail port.
