Taunusstein/Düsseldorf, 28.07.2020. BRITA, one of the leading companies in drinking water optimisation and customisation, is now commencing operations at its new European distribution centre in Beselich. The property is part of the Goodman portfolio, one of the world's leading logistics property developers. The 14,800 sqm logistics centre is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, sitting on a 24,600 sqm site. The warehouse space has the capacity to contain 17,000 pallet storage spaces, another 1,300 sqm is specifically designated for office and social areas.
The decisive factor for any logistics property is always its location. That’s why BRITA’s new distribution centre is located in the Rhine-Main region, a key transport logistics centre in Europe. This area houses the largest cargo airport in Europe, has a dense motorway network (including the A3, which connects the cities of Frankfurt and Cologne) and the Rhine and Main river, the most important inland waterways in Europe. The combination of these factors makes this region a central economic hub both in Germany and Europe. Moreover, the strategic location in Beselich provides the benefit of being very close to BRITA’s head office in Taunusstein and new production facilities.
Stefan Jonitz, Chief Financial Officer and one of the two Chief Executive Officers of the BRITA Group, further explains: " We decided to operate the logistics centre at this location with our staff of 70 people and our decision has been proven to be absolutely right. One of the lessons we have learned from the first months of the corona pandemic is to be self-sufficient. Like all other globally positioned companies, we have clearly seen how imperative the functioning of supply chains is in order to maintain production as well as to be able to supply our trade customers and users in these difficult times. The fact that BRITA has been able to successfully achieve this, is initially due to our dedicated staff and their outstanding team spirit, as well as to their ability to always implement courageous and quick decisions. Having our own European logistics hub to distribute our coveted products is also the simplest way to minimise risks in the supply chain and secure our business prospects for the future.”
Christof Prange, Head of Business Development at Goodman Germany, underlines this point: "The BRITA Group has definitely made the right decision to open its new European distribution centre in Beselich. This sustainable project, just like all the other Goodman properties in Europe, has been constructed in order to bring our customers even closer to consumers and thereby making supply chains more efficient.”
