Local German and pan-European logistics provider, B+S GmbH Logistik und Dienstleistungen, is expanding its presence in the Bremen Central Freight Terminal (GVZ) with a new 30,000 sqm modern logistics centre to be built by Goodman. B+S Logistik will be the first customer in the new facility, which has been designed with flexibility in mind to accommodate the different needs of more customers in this popular logistics location. The foundation stone will be laid on March 28 as part of an event which will include a high-powered roundtable discussion with representatives from B+S including B+S Managing Director Stefan Brinkman, Andreas Heyer, Managing Director of WFB Wirtschaftsfoerderung Bremen and Martin Guenthner, Senator for Economics, Labour and Ports, Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, as well as representatives from Goodman including Markus Meyer, Head of Nothern Germany.
B+S Logistik currently has more than 650 employees and operates twelve locations in Germany, with 300,000 sqm in total. The company provides a full range of logistics services including warehouse logistics and e-commerce fulfilment and requires logistics facilities that are located close to transport and urban centres to deliver goods quickly for its customers.
Stefan Brinkmann, Managing Director at B+S, says: "Our previous collaborations with Goodman at Moorburger Bogen and Eppertshauen made the team an obvious choice when looking to expand our business in Bremen. We have valued the speed and flexibility they have provided over many years of working together. The new property naturally strengthens our presence in northern Germany and perfectly complements our location in Hamburg."
Christof Prange, Head of Business Development at Goodman, says: "We always look to the future and strive to proactively acquire and develop properties in prime locations, where our customers will want to be. This can be a real challenge in Germany due to the scarcity of available landbanks in those areas. That’s why we don’t just consider greenfield sites, but we have developed our expertise in complex redevelopments on brownfield locations that are in high demand from customers such as B+S Logistik. Bremen is an important logistics location where we have previously developed more than 160,000 sqm of logistics properties for Daimler, BLG and Mdexx.”
B+S will mainly use the additional capacities in Bremen for an existing customer as well as for prospective land creation. Goodman has expertise in this area working with general contractor GOLDBECK. In addition to the 30,000 sqm warehouse space, 1,000 sqm are reserved here for offices and social rooms, and a 2,500 sqm mezzanine.
Thanks to its compliance with high sustainability standards, the property will be awarded a gold certificate by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Completion is scheduled for autumn of this year.
