Goodman Group, the real estate group that owns, develops and manages logistics property worldwide, is expanding its presence at Trade Port North Venlo with a new logistics development of 19.192 sqm. The development of the new, flexible logistics property is Goodman’s sixth project in Venlo, which was named The Netherland’s top logistics hotspot for cross-border e-commerce fulfilment.
Having reached capacity at its existing property – the Goodman Venlo North Logistics Centre, Goodman is developing a new neighbouring property that will be ready for customers to move in as soon as December 2017. The property has an office area and a mezzanine and can be subdivided into several units between 8,560 sqm and 19,192 sqm whereby TAPA-A is possible. The offices and facilities address the needs of companies from various industries such as e-commerce and retail..
The new project in Trade Port North has been developed based on Goodman’s future-oriented design principles, which comply with all modern logistics requirements and enable customers to save on the operational costs and reduce CO2 emissions. The logistics space has a minimum free height of 12.20 metres, one loading dock with a leveller per 1,000 sqm and is suitable for small aisle stacking applications. Sustainability features, including LED lighting and a rainwater collection system, are also included in the design. Goodman aims to obtain a BREEAM “Very good” certificate for the property
"Goodman has partnered with many logistics companies for developments in the region for more than 10 years. With online shopping increasing and customer expectations for fast delivery rising, we see great demand for modern logistics space to service e-commerce business in Venlo - however availability is scarce. With this expansion we provide our customers with quality, flexible space in the logistics hotspot of the Netherlands. The fact that we guarantee that customers can move into the property before the end of 2017 makes it a unique proposition in Venlo", says Lien Standaert, Netherlands Country Manager at Goodman.
The location, situated at the intersecting motorways A67 and A73 which connect the Benelux with the Ruhr area, make this property an excellent opportunity for companies to manage their flow of goods efficiently across Europe. Good multimodal links by water, railways and roads ensure optimal cross-border accessibility. Besides the excellent location and transport connections, there is also ample parking space for trucks and cars at the site.
Ruud van Heugten, managing director of Greenport Venlo, welcomes the expansion of Goodman at the site: "Companies such as Goodman are important partners for Trade Port North Venlo. The fact that Goodman invests long-term in its buildings is reflected in the quality of the properties, both in terms of their sustainable design as well as the flexibility of the space.
With its qualitative, sustainable, flexible logistics premises, Goodman makes a considerable contribution to the attractiveness of the site as one of the important logistical locations in the Netherlands."
Goodman in the Venlo region
The region of Venlo is the most popular logistics location for international e-fulfilment activities in the Netherlands. This is shown in the recently published study ‘Logistics Hotspots of the Netherlands 2017’. Goodman has already realised various projects in the Goodman Venlo Logistics Centre, for customers including DSV, UPS and Nutricia, which together account for more than 120,000 m2 of logistics space.
