Goodman Senec Logistics Centre expands, signing lease agreement with Alza.sk

Tuesday, 27 October 2015

Goodman Group (“Goodman” or “Group”), a global leader in the ownership, development and management of industrial real estate, has secured a new 12,000 sqm lease agreement with Alza.cz (Alza), the largest online supplier of electronics to the Czech and Slovak markets. This agreement confirms Goodman’s leading position in the field of ecommerce logistics space. The space being leased by Alza forms part of a new 15,500 sqm facility recently completed by Goodman at its Senec Logistics Centre in Slovakia. Alza is leasing an area of 12,000 sqm and the remaining 3,500 sqm was developed on a speculative basis. Goodman signed lease agreements with companies NAY a.s., Quehenberger Logistics and Agility earlier this year at the property.

Alza is the biggest online electronics retailer on the Czech and Slovak markets and, since last year, has expanded its reach to 26 other EU countries. The new facility at Senec is being used as a distribution centre for Slovakia and neighbouring states, and is serving as the company’s logistics base. The facility features 11,300 sqm of warehousing and 700 sqm of office space. The building was designed to allow for ample truck parking and for quick processing of orders. With this new logistics centre, Alza now operates a total of 24,000 sqm of logistics space across Slovakia.

“We chose Goodman because of its client-centric approach and flexible solutions. In a short period of time, Goodman coordinated the various construction partners that developed a superior and integrated building. Additionally the facility includes a two-storey mezzanine area of more than 6,000 sqm, which we installed. The Senec logistics area is well located for distribution in Slovakia, where we have 11 offices, and has very good connections to Bratislava,” said Šárka Jakoubková PR manager of Alza.

JLL advised on the transaction. "Goodman's Senec Centre is in one of the best logistics locations in the country and is ideal for Alza. We were pleased to bring both parties into cooperation and to find the best solution for our client," said Martin Stratov, Head of Industrial Agency JLL Slovakia.

Top developer for ecommerce logistics

Goodman is a leading provider of warehouse space for the ecommerce sector, having developed more space of its kind than any other logistics real estate developer in Europe and manages close to 1.3 million sqm.

"Our cooperation with Alza has been a true partnership. Alza is an important customer with specific needs and we were able to leverage our extensive ecommerce experience to meet their requirements. The combination of Alza’s knowledge and our experience has made this a unique project for the Slovak market," said Jan Palek, Goodman Country Manager for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
